Valiakhmetov studied at the renown Surikov Art Institute in Moscow, and became a member of the Union of Russian Artists in 1958.  He was awarded two prestigious diplomas, one from the Ministry of Culture and the other from the Moscow Union of Artists.  He started exhibiting his work in 1957, and was included in the important ‘Soviet Russia’ exhibition in Moscow in 1960.

Valiakhmetov uses a palette of brilliant colors that are applied in complimentary fashion in order to produce chromatic intensity.  His strokes of pure, undiluted color infuse the composition with animated vibrancy, building up to a crescendo of luminescent color cascades that reveal the energy and passion which lie at the heart of Russian painting.
