Malfroy-Savigny studied painting at the prestigious Ecole des Beaux Arts de Paris with his father, Charles Malfroy, who was a highly regarded artist.  He often participated at the Salon des Artistes Francais and the Salon des Independants, and specialized in highly romantic renderings of maritime scenes with atmospheric effects inspired by the Impressionists,

Malfroy-Sevigny’s breezy, seemingly spontaneous brushwork combines with a rigorous technique resulting in vivid compositions that suggest the immediacy of the artist’s observations.  His palette includes vibrant reds that heighten the emotional content of the work, and the rhythmic energy of the undulating waves and the sails flapping in the wind create a vibrant and luminous pictorial surface.
