Ottmann exhibited his work at the Salon d'Automne, Salon des Tuileries and the Societe Nationale des Beaux Arts in Paris to great public acclaim. The richness of his palette, combined with the delicacy of his brushtrokes and sensuality of his compositions brought him recognition among the most distinguished artistic circles.
His paintings of nudes reflect the seductive intimacy of Renoir, an artist Ottmann revered. His earlier works, strong in color and bold in design, gradually gave way to softer, more transparent hues and simplified compositions that highlighted his delight at representing women. Unfortunately, his tragic death in an automobile accident prevented him from blossoming into full artistic maturity.
