Although Diriks was Norwegian and related to the painter Edvard Munch, his style was mostly Post-Impressionistic, inspired by both Cubism and Fauvism. After having studied architecture in his native country, he arrived in Paris at the turn of the century and became actively involved in the lives of fellow artists and poets.
He regularly exhibited his works at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des
Independants, and was invited to participate in the Salon des Tuileries. He was eventually given the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur.
